Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont visited Jefferson Radiology’s Bloomfield office on Friday, October 14th in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Governor issued an official proclamation declaring October Breast Cancer Awareness Month and emphasizing regular screening as critical in the fight against breast cancer.
FOX61 was on location as Dr. Deidre Gifford, Commissioner of the Department of Social Services, kicked off the press conference by encouraging all women to get their annual screening. Dr. Diana James, head of breast imaging, took the podium next and discussed the incredible breakthroughs made in the fight against breast cancer, with Jefferson Radiology’s advanced 3D mammography leading the way in early detection. Next, three-time breast cancer survivor and patient advocate Katharine Chaney-Jones shared her incredible story of survival and encouraged women to take control of their health.
Dr. Manisha Juthani, the Commissioner of Connecticut Department of Public Health, drove home the importance for women in Connecticut to get their annual mammograms because of the high percentage of women experiencing a positive diagnosis in the state. Finally, Governor Ned Lamont echoed the importance of early detection. He applauded the progress made in recent years, specifically thanking Dr. James and the team at Jefferson Radiology for the incredible work and contributions made in the fight against breast cancer.
